Why is 6 afraid of 7?

This was a riddle at the ‘Alice’s Wonderland’ section of Scienceworks, which both kids love. The answer is ‘because 7 ate 9’, but Alex said, ‘because 7 is bigger’. It’s an interesting idea, fearing something (or someone) that is bigger. Alex doesn’t seem to display such fears, in fact he looks ready to take on the biggest kid he can find at times, and he certainly does not need to fear his parents. But he is also understanding the numbers and is using his knowledge to reason with me. So one little riddle that we read in a place we’ve visited 100 times has told me a lot.

Daniel loves the food/cafe play area. Alex has never had much interest in this part and has always headed towards the building/engineering type play. He brought along his jet transformer, and was telling me that if the force from one side is more than the other then it will turn!

Thursday was HOT! We stayed home and got the pool out. We played a little but soon headed in for TV. Alex has found new shows called Dino trux and Max Steel. We played with some lego, building extra carriages for his truck whilst Daniel played with his duplo. We also watched a christmas movie (Curious george – Daniel loves him) on Netflix, but the options are pretty poor!

We had a homeschool excursion to Bounce, it was a scorcher of a day too. I left Daniel with his grandparents as Bounce has nothing to offer him. Alex bounced for 2 hours and was completely wet from sweat! After picking Daniel up, we took him for a hair cut as his hair was long and seemingly annoying, especially in the heat. He doesn’t mind the hair cut as he watches the wiggles! lol. On the way home I was singing Christmas songs, I find it hard to be christmassy in the heat! I sang about Rudolph and Alex interrupted me with “the other reindeers teased Rudolph, but when Santa asked Rudolph to pull they sleigh  the other reindeers respected him”. Lol. We stopped to get ice cream and watched some TV. In the evening we went for a drive to see some Christmas lights  (and induce sleep  😉  )
