Alex and I have had fun playing survival mode in minecraft recently. Alex has also wanted mods for the PC version, traincraft was first on the list. We had to go back a few versions to get it which was an ordeal for me as I’m a computer user but when it comes to programming, installs or anything going wrong, I call Vio!
We had our first official caretaker day at Brimbank. The kids shared the planting – making holes, watering and placing the plants. There was lots of playing together and the kids explored their old base camp. We had friends come play afterwards, and Alex was disappointed that they didn’t play minecraft much.
Another day at Brimbank park, the homeschool meet up. Alex played a lot with a newer attendee, they were scooting and racing and chasing. they seem to have a similar energy and his mother commented that they are like magnets in finding each other! Daniel stayed with me, scooting a bit too. There were lots of people in attendance today – it happens at this time of year when kinder is close to over and parents aren’t convinced about school. But many will not return.
We had a birthday party that we attended – a friend of Daniel’s. Alex had a friend to play with too yet Daniel ended up sticking by them. it was a boys vs girls day it seemed! Purely incidental! It was a hot day so there was lots of water play. We went to the swimming pool afterwards, MAC. We had lots of fun playing together – Alex and I played swimming tag whilst Daniel sat fishing with noodles from the edge. I was surprised by Daniel’s eagerness to go on the frog slide.
We went to tieve tara and a lovely morning! The kids played, and explored. They took the backpacks with food and told us they were going off by themselves and not to follow! The kids remembered the talking corella, and they danced with him.
Alex had hurdles training at athletics this week. We’ve had the neighbours kids come over too, or Alex plays out front with them. He gets very excited when he sees them outside and immediately puts down his iPad and heads out. We also had gymnastics – Daniel had a great week and was even going to the coach to do things with her (without prompting) – it’s only taken a year! We had a play at the park afterwards with friends. Alex has been to karate this week too. There was no athletics this week.
The weekend saw us head to Inverloch to go camping. The kids went straight to the jumping pillow – it was a 2 hour drive though! The kids slept in the car. After dinner, we went into town and had the best ice-cream ever! We played football at the camp grounds until nightfall and then tried to get the kids to sleep, which was not an easy or quiet task! The next day after breakfast and finding a farmers market where we bought our first cherries of the season (which lasted about 15 minutes, lol), we went back to the camp site and to the splash park.We had hours of fun there and at the pool. Daniel went on the slides too and eventually even on the tube slide, though only with me. We went all 3 of us together. The pool was great as it was saltwater and had many levels so Alex got to play and dive in the deep end whilst Daniel stayed safe in the shallows. We played crocodiles of course! We had lunch back with Vio at the tent and then headed to the beach for the afternoon (though Alex was reluctant as he wanted to go back to the splash park). What a beautiful beach! The water was so still, the kids could swim and wade. We dug holes and ditches, Alex and Vio played football. That evening we just had to go back for another ice-cream. it was one of our best camping days ever.
