Alex attended karate on Saturday morning as he’d missed it on Friday having been at Kryal castle. He came away saying that he wanted to attend every Saturday! Daniel and I played together on his iPad in the car. He has this pet doctor app that he loves, I also got him thee ‘Mike the Knight’ app after our recent activities! Afterwards we headed to a farmer’s market. The kids wanted to use their scooters, I said ok. But on the way out Daniel refused to ride or move and I had 2 bagfuls of produce! We took our time and once I got within view of the car, I walked ahead to drop off bags and go back and collect him but he got super upset. Then Alex started crying too and they stood there hugging each other in tears. You’d think they’d know I’d never leave them behind – I NEVER say “I’ll go without you”! We spent a few hours at home and then headed to the skate park to meet friends. Alex played basketball whilst he waited, then accidentally threw the ball to the top of the half pipe and it got stuck! He was so angry that he ran up in a rage and made it to the top! He’d never made that run before, he’d tried so many times, but this time he really wanted to! He was so pleased, then of course after that he spent much of his time trying to get back up – sometimes unsuccessfully. Daniel had an early night, so Alex and I played snakes and ladders, and t-rex game. We also watched ‘walking with dinosaurs’.
Alex went with Vio and Gigi to toss the pigeons, so Daniel and I played together at home – we painted, made a rocket. We had a quiet afternoon, the kids played on iPads and watched TV mostly. Alex and I read treehouse book before bed, which we’ve done most nights this week. Alex has been sleeping with Vio recently too. I’ve been really slack with my diary! I’m forgetting sooo much.
The kids wanted to go to the beach, so off we went! The kids were in their wetsuits, which they are bursting out of, they played in the water looking for creatures and shells, dug holes in the sand and created waterways. We cleaned ourselves up and had a nice picnic lunch in the playground, then the kids got back to playing. Lots of water and sand play, carving channels and directing the water.
We headed to Organ Pipes National park with friends and took our time going for a walk. We stopped to look at whatever we found (insects, lizards and birds), enjoyed some time at the creek and then climbed the steep path to the top. The little ones got a bit upset on the walk as they were scared (the loose dirt made it slippery), but they made it to the top a bit at a time. Once there, Daniel declared that he wanted to do it all over again!
The kids spent the day with their grandparents as I worked. Alex enjoys seeing the pigeons, and Daniel has some interest too. I picked them up and we headed to swimming lessons where of course we played crocodiles. Alex’s lesson was on safety and they wore life jackets and learned how to rescue someone in trouble in the water.
Bacchus Marsh holds a literacy festival each year and this year we decided to attend. The kids had fun making and decorating muffins, playing with the colourful rice, with ribbons and Alex especially enjoyed the giant bubbles. He spent a lot of time there and really got the hang of it. We had a bit of upset about ribbon colours though, perhaps the week has been too full. We got some balloon animals, though it seemed there were only dogs available, lol. They kept coming undone, so to avoid further upsets I managed to fix them! Back home we did a few chores like cleaning up the chickens. The kids chilled out with their iPads mostly, and awaited their cousins visit in the evening.
I had another day to work, but this time Vio stayed home with the kids so that they wouldn’t miss gymnastics. I met them there afterwards and took the kids to the shops to buy a new toy as I’d sold some unused toys. Alex chose a ninjago lego dragon. Daniel got some food for his kitchen. I picked him up from karate, and I noticed that he had his book but no pencils. He’d been unable to find his pencils previously so i got him a pencil case, but again he was saying that he couldn;t find them. I got to the bottom of it though – he’s embarrassed about not being able to write 🙁 We talked about how much older the other kids are to him, and how we can work on writing if he’d like. He said he wanted to. In the car he was asking lots of questions about states of matter, I can’t remember how it originated now.
I wrote a note for Alex to wake up to, and he wanted to write back. He told me what he’d like to say so I wrote it down and he copied it. We built the lego creations and I spent much of the day doing food co-op orders. The house was a disaster! We had a friend come over and the kids played and then the cleanup began! We also got the kids tools out over the weekend and they played, Alex made a toy for the chickens. Vio got cages for all of the canaries, so we transferred them across. We got ready to go out to a dinner with Vio’s football team. The kids enjoyed, Daniel was a bit shy. We were out for a long time and got home very late! Fortunately we took the iPads to keep the kids occupied. Alex enjoyed sending the time with the boys.
