We spent the following 2 days at Kryal Castle as part of a homeschool educational tour. It worked well because we got to do a lot of things we wouldn’t have ordinarily been able to do as a family group and met Alex’s wish to visit a castle. We had early starts, but I think the kids enjoyed it. They played giant chess, conquered the maze,
watched a knightly display and watched the different tools at their disposal,
watched a joust and sword fight,
saw some archers, heard about falconry, and took part in workshops on armour,
calligraphy,
weapons (firing a catapult),
apothecary (making a ‘band aid’),
archery,
and fighting on the battlefield!
The kids wanted bows and arrows and swords, I bought them, regrettably as they were broken so quickly! Daniel asked where his ‘knightly things’ were, which made me laugh! We saw Arthur’s sword in the stone, which made me want to watch the Disney movie and tell Alex about the legend but we were all so tired! It was a great 2 days 🙂
