Alex says in the car “1000 cents make $10”. He told me how he worked it out – 100 cents make $1, then there are 10 $1 in $10. Then he went on to tell me that 200 cents make $20.
We visited a library to take part in some science experiments. Alex was the only one there for a while – he was making playdough with cornflour and detergent. He came home wanting to do more, and Daniel got involved too so it was a messy time!
We had a trip to the city. The kids were part of a music workshop, with songs, movement and stories. Alex’s dancing provided us with some giggles – he’s so expressive! Daniel enjoyed the workshop too. We grabbed lord of the fries for lunch and headed to Birrarung Marr. The kids love this park, though the often spend more time climbing the giant rocks and rolling down the hill than in the playground itself. We went to see Circus Oz and the kids LOVED it! Daniel even sat with Alex rather than on my lap. They laughed and gazed in amazement. The performance was great, and fulfilled Alex’s recent request to go to the circus (prompted by seeing a circus set up at the local shopping centre). Alex invited a friend back to our house and made more playdough! Alex and his best friend Clea hadn’t seen each other for 2 weeks, they were very cute all day -wanting to be partners, giving each other hugs too.
Our last swimming lesson of the term. Afterwards Alex told me he had been very naughty! Oh dear. I asked him if he’d prefer not to do lessons, but he insists he does but he likes to play. So we have agreed that we’ll go to swimming an hour early for play and then he’ll promise to focus on his lesson. He has said that he wants to race, but I think they have to get to a certain level first.
Vio had a day home from work, so we had a long lazy morning. The kids made cards for Buni’s birthday. Daniel is drawing with intent now and describing things. Alex wrote his own birthday message and we dropped the card off the next morning. We received a piece of missing robot (a birthday present for Alex) and so finished putting it together. It wasn’t particularly good and the screws were soft and didn’t tighten enough. So the robot was a bit sloppy in its walk.
We visited a friends house where the kids played together before we headed for the last gymnastics of the term. Daniel got upset and tired so we left for him to have a sleep. We went to the park after – it was very cold, not many came along. Alex was upset that he had no-one to play with. I remembered the very late night we’d had the day before as the kids were both a bit emotional! Alex went to karate, and then at home the kids were playing with magnetic tiles. Daniel was making 2D animals.
The weekend was a quiet one – football. Alex ordered too much food from the canteen! Mistakes are there to learn from 🙂 We went to a playground with the kids’ cousins. Alex found another boy to play with – they played with the water, archimedes spiral and looking in the forest for gemstones. I played with Daniel. The kids all had their scooters and we played monsters together. We had fun 🙂 The kids got the magnetic tiles out again at home and we watched some TV. Alex commented about how 3/+4 hour was 1/2 + 1/4. I can’t remember what this was in reference to though!
