The next day we tried a park in Albert park with the kids’ cousins. Alex helped the little ones as it was hard for parents to get into some spaces. We saw a helicopter – it was clearly a military helicopter and the kids, especially Alex, were excited. I played avengers with them too before heading to tutti frutti near home for frozen yoghurt. We had dinner at Vio’s sisters as vio had been helping in the garden all day with some renovations. In the car, Alex told me that he wanted to understand animals and be able to talk to them.
At home, Alex played with the magnetic tiles. he’s been making patterns recently, rather than building with them.
After a weekend of being out and about, we stayed home on monday. Well local at least. We walked to the park, played basketball, used the monkeybars. We collected leaves and did leaf rubbing at home. Alex was collecting for stick insects. We also read some books together, played in the garden, painted and watched a new show called PJ masks.
At co-op, we had our first hall day and with it an incursion from RACV about road safety. Alex was not engaged at all and so the kids played trains! He did get involved in show and tell, I really enjoyed watching him 🙂 He talked about the thunderbirds tshirt that he’d made. He told me later that he had felt shy. We went to a park afterwards for a play with friends, then on to fawkner library for a science activity. Alex and his friend Clea were the only 2 present. Alex enjoyed it and had done some of it before, and was particularly fascinated with his cartesian diver!
Our weekly west meet up at Brimbank park – there are lots of kids coming which is great.lots Alex’s age, but a few fiery personalities and Alex got annoyed with some kids wanting to play rough when he just wanted his own space. The kids scooted around the park, then down to the river to explore – they love it there. They climb around the rocks, walk through the water and more. We had swimming lesson in the evening, and Alex is showing some definite improvements!
