Best iPad watcher in the world

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Sunday morning, Vio was watching football – Barcelona was playing. Alex got up and joined him. After a few minutes he asked if Vio used to play like that. We laughed and ‘I wish’ was uttered. We saw Messi and I commented that he was the best player in the world. Alex said “I’m the best iPad watcher in the world”, made me laugh. We went to visit Vio’s parents for lunch then the skate park with the kids’ bikes. It was pretty hot so we didn’t stay too long. At home we watched lots of TV! We all get quite lethargic in the heat. In the evening, I thought I’d give some experiments a go – I tried to get the rocket working. I had a couple of successes though I couldn’t get one to work for Alex. He then decided he wanted to blow up some bags again so we did that too 🙂

The kids were up early Monday. We were organised and straight out to Watergardens as Alex wanted to buy some shoes with wheels! There were none available and so he bought (another) RC car! We went on to Sunshine Swimming Pool. On the way we played ‘I spy’ – Alex is getting so good now I can’t work them out! We had a lovely time at the pool together, then came home for Daniel to sleep. I watched the iPad with Alex before taking him to karate.

On Tuesday I woke up to find another canary missing. One of the other canaries was lying dead in the bottom of the cage. Upon closer inspection, it’s wing had been ripped off but was nowhere to be seen. We concluded that cats must have been attacking and so now we keep the canaries in the garage at night. We’ve also secured the cage, it looks as though the walls had been forced apart. Alex was a little upset, and now hates cats. We buried the dead bird, which he has named Jack/Jackie (boy/girl names) and said a few words of goodbye. Today was coop day and so off we went, the kids enjoyed it again and Daniel slept at home after whilst I watched Wild Kratts with Alex. He decided he wanted to play chess – I’m not sure where he had seen it before. He picked up the pieces and their abilities really quickly and we actually had a decent game!

On Wednesday, our park day was cancelled and so we stayed home and made some christmas decorations. We made a paper chain that we put around the tree and also I showed Alex how to make some snowflakes. He really wanted to replicate mine exactly, even when I said that all snowflakes are different but he insisted he couldn’t do one and then the cutting was hard so he unfortunately got quite upset. So the activity that I had thought was going to be fun (and was based on my own school experiences of Christmas which I had been feeling bad about Alex not experiencing) was not!
