After a long morning at home with Vio doing jobs around the house and me and the kids cleaning the cars, we went to our local skate park. This is a favourite as we can also walk there. It was really nice for both kids to have someone’s attention. It’s often just me with them and so they have to share, and given that they are not playing the same types of things yet I can only do one at a time. It often ends up being Alex that gets me to play with him but it comes with ‘rules’ as I won’t stray far from Daniel for playing chase. It’s usually also quite short-lived either because I have to carry Daniel around or I’m just totally unfit! Alex took his cars and rolled them down the half pipe and slides. He was telling me to watch them as they go up the sides when there’s a turn in the slide.
We went swimming again at MAC, then I had to run errands. the kids don’t like the latter much but sometimes it is just a necessary part of our day. I do limit these kinds of things to try and do them all at once, and I do most things where possible online.
We’ve been reading Fantastic Mr Fox. Alex is really enjoying it. We have 9 chapters left, and Alex said we can finish it in 3 days if we read 3 chapters each night.
We had issues leaving Brimbank Park from HS park day. It was difficult as I need to get to work, and other people came so late. Whilst we were there though Alex seemed to be having a good time and there were no issues with other kids. The following day we met up with a newer HS family. Alex was a little bit out of sorts, and told me how he didn’t want daddy to leave! He’s going to Gold Coast in a few days for a football tournament – the first time he’s been away from the kids.
Alex likes to visit his ‘friend pigeon’ at his grandparents house. We’re waiting for babies to hatch. We gave the canaries back last week and they laid eggs. We also helped with putting the chickens eggs into the incubator. We’re hoping to have chickens of our own.
Daniel is able to do forward rolls at gym now! He was much more willing to get off of me this time around and enjoys the trampoline and swinging on the rings to knock something over.
Last night Alex took his iPad under his bed. When I went to see why he quickly turned his iPad off and wouldn’t tell me what he was watching. I’m sorry to say I got upset about it and would handle it differently if given another chance. I was just so surprised that he was hiding from me. I’m currently in a place where I’m vowing to be kinder and calmer, it’s hard. I often fail. But there’s always a new moment and another day.
